Eagles Complete Doubleheader Sweep at North Central Texas College
GAINESVILLE, Texas — Northeast Texas Community College powered its way to a dominant doubleheader sweep Wednesday, defeating North Central Texas College 12–5 in Game 1 and 13–5 in Game 2.
The Eagles combined for 25 runs on 25 hits across the two contests, showcasing explosive offense and steady pitching to secure the road sweep.
Game 1: Six Homers Fuel 12–5 Victory
NTCC wasted no time setting the tone in the opener. Josh Staten launched a three-run homer in the first inning, igniting a six-home-run performance for the Eagles.
After building a 7–1 lead through two innings, NTCC broke the game open in the fifth with four more long balls. Boston Seahorn, Cameron Reiter, Carson Umphres, and Drew Flores all homered in the frame as the Eagles extended the lead to 12–1.
Luke Nohinek added a two-run homer earlier in the game, finishing with two RBIs.
On the mound, Chris Whitaker (1–0) earned the win, striking out seven over 4.2 innings. Caedon Alexander provided 1.1 scoreless innings in relief before Lane Cole closed out the contest.
NTCC struck out nine hitters in the opener while overcoming 11 hits allowed.
Game 2: Seven-Run Seventh Seals 13–5 Win
The Eagles kept the offense rolling in the nightcap.
BJ Lumkins opened the scoring with a first-inning home run and finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk. NTCC led 2–0 before North Central tied the game in the fourth, but the Eagles responded with a four-run sixth highlighted by a three-run homer from Carson Umphres.
Leading 6–4 entering the seventh, NTCC put the game away with a seven-run inning. RBI hits from Lumkins, Luke Nohinek, and Seahorn sparked the rally before Staten delivered a two-run double. Umphres and Reiter added RBIs to cap the scoring at 13–5.
Seahorn finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double, while Nohinek also collected three hits and two RBIs. The Eagles totaled 15 hits in Game 2.
On the mound, Kaleb Kuhn (1–0) turned in a strong start, tossing five innings while striking out seven. The bullpen trio of Jax Prewitt, Nathaniel Chambers, and Sam Durard combined to finish the final two innings.
NTCC pitchers struck out 10 in the second game.

NTCC will now open NJCAA Region 14 North Conference play on Saturday, February 21, traveling to take on Bossier Parish Community College.
