Eagles Fall in Four-Game Series at #7 Weatherford College

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles battled throughout a four-game series with seventh-ranked Weatherford College on February 11 and 13, but ultimately dropped the set 4–0.

Game 1 – Weatherford 8, NTCC 2

Weatherford struck early with three runs in the first inning and added separation with a three-run sixth. Jake Farris highlighted the Eagles' offense with a solo home run, while David Sorg added an RBI single. Luke Nohinek recorded a two-hit performance.

On the mound, Kaleb Kuhn worked four innings with five strikeouts, while Carson Umphres provided 1.1 scoreless innings of relief to close out the game.

Game 2 – Weatherford 10, NTCC 7

The Eagles showed fight in Game 2, rallying late with four runs in the eighth and one in the ninth. Boston Seahorn, David Sorg (2 RBI), Josh Staten, and Jonathon Kent each contributed key hits as NTCC totaled 10 hits.

Tanner Webb struck out nine over 5.2 innings to keep NTCC within reach early, and Kyler Miritello added a scoreless inning of relief.

Game 3 – Weatherford 5, NTCC 2

In the series shift to Weatherford, the Eagles were limited to two hits but stayed within striking distance. BJ Lumkins drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and David Sorg added an RBI.

Cooper Schwank allowed two runs over four innings before Weatherford broke through in the fifth. Brady Smedshammer closed the game with a scoreless final frame.

Game 4 – Weatherford 10, NTCC 1

Weatherford used a five-run third inning to seize control in the finale. Boston Seahorn drove in the Eagles' lone run, while Cameron Reiter collected two hits.

Eight different Eagles saw time on the mound in the finale, with Lane Cole and Caedon Alexander combining for 1.2 scoreless innings in relief.


Despite the results, the Eagles continued to compete against one of the region's top-ranked programs and showed resilience throughout the series. Northeast Texas will look to regroup and build momentum moving forward.
