Mount Pleasant, Texas — The NTCC men's soccer team fell short in its home opener on Tuesday afternoon in Mount Pleasant. The Eagles fell to a much improved Jacksonville squad 3-2 in a back and forth contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

After a slow first half, Jacksonville scored on a corner kick with less than 5 minutes remaining in the 1st period.

The Eagles would make a charge in the 2nd half before sophomore forward Ian Foulkes would finally find the back of the net with 17 minutes remaining to make the score 1-1.

Jacksonville jumped back in front 2-1 before freshman Desaily Bastian-Cowan would collect a pass from sophomore defender Harvey Butcher for a tap in to level the score at 2 apiece.

The Eagles let their guard down and learned a costly lesson as Jacksonville scored once again on a corner kick with less than 30 seconds to go to ice the game.

Next up the Eagles will take on Blinn on Friday 9/6/24 at home in Mount Pleasant.
