Eagles Dominate Series Finale to Take 2-of-3 Over Navarro
The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles put together a complete weekend performance, earning a series victory over the Navarro College Bulldogs by taking two of three games, highlighted by a dominant 15-7 win in the finale on May 2.
Game 1: Eagles Ride Pitching to 4-1 Victory
NTCC opened the series on April 28 with a strong 4-1 win behind a dominant showing on the mound. After falling behind 1-0 early, the Eagles responded with timely hitting and steady offensive pressure.
Cameron Reiter and Jonathon Kent each drove in runs, while Boston Seahorn and Riley Patterson paced the offense with two hits apiece. The Eagles capitalized on key opportunities despite striking out 13 times.
On the mound, Tanner Webb delivered 5.1 innings of one-run baseball with seven strikeouts, while Cooper Schwank shut the door with two scoreless innings. The pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts and held Navarro to just six hits.
Game 2: Navarro Evens Series with Shutout
Navarro answered in Game 2 with a 5-0 shutout, using a three-run first inning to seize early control.
Despite a strong effort from Kaleb Kuhn, who struck out eight over 6.1 innings, the Eagles were unable to overcome early defensive miscues that led to unearned runs. Navarro added two more runs late to put the game out of reach.
NTCC collected seven hits, led by Josh Staten's perfect 3-for-3 performance, but stranded eight runners and couldn't deliver the timely hit needed to shift momentum.
Game 3: Offensive Explosion Powers Eagles to Series Win
The Eagles saved their best for last, erupting for 15 runs on 12 hits in a run-rule victory to clinch the series.
After trailing 6-1 in the fifth inning, NTCC flipped the game with an explosive offensive surge. A three-run home run by Jake Farris sparked the comeback, cutting the deficit to one.
The Eagles then erupted for six runs in the sixth inning to take control, capitalizing on walks, timely hits, and defensive lapses by Navarro. NTCC added four more runs in the seventh to secure the 15-7 win.
Farris finished with four RBIs, while Cameron Reiter also drove in four runs, including a bases-clearing double in the seventh. Jonathon Kent added a home run and drove in two, while Luke Nohinek reached base four times and scored three runs.
In total, NTCC drew 10 walks and produced 14 RBIs, showcasing a relentless offensive approach.
On the mound, Tanner Webb earned the win in relief with two scoreless innings, helping shut down Navarro after the Eagles reclaimed the lead.v
