Eagles Dominate Finale to Secure Season Series Over Angelina

Northeast Texas Community College closed out its three-game series against Angelina College with a statement 13-0 victory on April 11, securing the season series 3-2 over the Roadrunners.

The Eagles' dominant finale not only salvaged the weekend but also reinforced their earlier success against Angelina, as NTCC previously swept a doubleheader on March 3 with 7-0 and 6-5 victories.

Game 1: Late Rally Sinks Eagles in 10-9 Loss

NTCC came out strong in the series opener, building a 6-0 lead through five innings behind a balanced offensive attack and a quality start from Chris Whitaker.

BJ Lumkins led the way, going 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, while Jake Farris and Luke Nohinek each drove in two runs. The Eagles racked up 15 hits and looked in control early.

Momentum shifted in the seventh inning, however, as Angelina erupted for five runs to climb back into the game. After trading runs late, the Roadrunners pushed ahead with two runs in the ninth.

NTCC answered with a run in the bottom half but came up just short in a 10-9 loss.

Game 2: Big Innings Lift Angelina to 13-3 Win

In Game 2, the Eagles again showed early fight. A two-run home run from Riley Patterson in the third inning gave NTCC a 3-2 lead.

Angelina responded immediately with a four-run inning and never relinquished control. The Roadrunners added a run in the fourth and broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning.

Cole Standley powered the Angelina offense, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBIs. NTCC totaled seven hits but couldn't keep pace in a 13-3 loss.

Game 3: Schwank, Eagles Roll to 13-0 Shutout

NTCC responded in dominant fashion in the series finale, delivering a complete performance in a 13-0 shutout.

Cooper Schwank was exceptional on the mound, throwing a complete-game two-hit shutout over six innings. He kept Angelina off balance all game and controlled the tempo from the first pitch.

The Eagles' offense backed him in a big way, scoring 13 runs on 12 hits. A six-run fifth inning broke the game open and put the contest out of reach.

Jonathon Kent led the offense with a home run and three RBIs, while BJ Lumkins added another strong performance with a homer and four RBIs. Riley Patterson also went deep and drove in three runs, and Cameron Reiter contributed two hits and scored three times.

Season Series Secured

Despite dropping the middle two games of the weekend, NTCC's earlier sweep on March 3 proved pivotal in claiming the season series 3-2.

The Eagles outscored Angelina 39-34 across the five matchups, showcasing their offensive firepower and ability to respond after adversity.

With a dominant performance in the finale, NTCC carries momentum forward as conference play continues.
