Northeast Texas Community College Rallies Behind Farris Walk-Off to Sweep Angelina College

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas — It all came down to one swing. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and the count even at 2-2, Jake Farris delivered the moment of the season so far, launching a walk-off two-run home run to lift Northeast Texas Community College to a dramatic 6-5 victory over Angelina College and complete the sweep.

Game One: NTCC 7, Angelina 0
Earlier in the day, the Eagles rode dominant pitching and timely hitting to a 7-0 shutout win.
Kaleb Kuhn was outstanding on the mound, tossing a complete-game shutout. The left-hander allowed six hits, struck out six, and walked none while throwing 95 pitches to keep Angelina off balance all afternoon.

Offensively, NTCC broke through with four runs in the fourth inning and never looked back. Luke Nohinek drove in three runs, Cameron Reiter doubled and scored, and Josh Staten reached base three times while scoring twice. The Eagles drew seven walks and collected eight hits in the opener to set the tone for the nightcap.

Game Two: NTCC 6, Angelina 5

The second game turned into a battle. Reiter put the Eagles on the board in the first inning with an RBI single. David Sorg added a solo home run in the fifth, and Reiter delivered again in the sixth to stretch the lead to 3-0. After Angelina scored in the seventh, Josh Staten answered with a solo homer of his own to make it 4-1.
Chris Whitaker gave NTCC six strong innings, allowing just three hits and no runs while striking out four.

But the ninth inning brought chaos. Angelina strung together hits and took advantage of walks to plate four runs, turning a 4-1 deficit into a 5-4 lead. Suddenly, the Eagles were down to their final out. With two outs and a runner aboard in the bottom of the ninth, Farris stepped in. The count ran full to 2-2 as the crowd rose to its feet. On the next pitch, Farris drove a towering shot over the outfield wall, a no-doubt, two-run walk-off home run that sent the dugout spilling onto the field.

Ballgame.

Farris finished the nightcap 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, delivering the biggest swing of the day. Reiter drove in two, Sorg and Staten each homered, and NTCC piled up 14 hits in the finale.

Sam Durard picked up the win in relief, but the night belonged to Farris.

With the sweep, Northeast Texas showed resilience, pitching depth, and timely power — capped by a two-out, 2-2 count blast that will be remembered for a long time in Mount Pleasant.
