Eagles Score Late to Defeat Eastfield 8–4

FORT WORTH, Texas — Northeast Texas Community College used timely hitting and a strong bullpen effort to defeat Dallas College Eastfield, 8–4, on March 9.

After Eastfield struck first with a run in the top of the first inning, the Eagles responded quickly. Northeast Texas plated two runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead. The offense continued to apply pressure in the third inning when Boston Seahorn delivered an RBI single, giving the Eagles a 3–1 advantage.

Eastfield closed the gap with a run in the fifth inning, but Northeast Texas answered again in the bottom half. The Eagles scored twice in the frame to push the lead to 5–2. David Sorg drove in a run with a sacrifice, and Kaleb Steiger added an RBI to extend the margin.

The biggest swing of the game came in the seventh inning when Jake Farris launched a two-run home run to give Northeast Texas additional breathing room. The Eagles added another run in the inning to stretch the lead to 8–2.

Eastfield attempted to rally in the eighth with a two-run homer from Erik Aguirre, but the Eagles bullpen shut the door the rest of the way.

Northeast Texas collected nine hits in the victory. Boston Seahorn led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Jake Farris added a two-run homer. BJ Lumkins scored twice and doubled, and Jonathon Kent, Riley Patterson, Kaleb Steiger, and David Sorg each recorded extra-base hits.

On the mound, Nathaniel Chambers started for the Eagles, allowing just one run over four innings while striking out one. Bryson Bentley earned the win with three strong innings of relief, giving up only two hits and one unearned run. Jake Pempsell closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning.

The Eagles used a balanced offensive attack and solid pitching from the bullpen to secure the 8–4 victory.
