CODY JOHNSON HIRED AS ASST BASEBALL COACH

Cody Johnson will enter his first season under head coach Andy Morgan for the 25-26 season. Johnson joins the NTCC staff having spent the past two seasons at East Texas Baptist University, serving as the Director of Player Development. Coach Johnson will take over the pitching duties for the Eagles as well as assist with recruiting.

In 2025, he helped guide the Tigers to a regular season conference title and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Marshall, Texas Regional Championship. The year prior, in 2024, he was part of the coaching staff honored as the ASC Coaching Staff of the Year after ETBU captured both the regular season title and the Marshall Regional Championship. The Tigers' pitching staff ranked among the nation's best, led by ABCA and Perfect Game Pitcher of the Year, Sayers Collins.

In the summer of 2023, Johnson served as the pitching coach for the Edenton Steamers of the Premier Collegiate League. He helped lead the team to a league championship that summer.

As a player in 2023, Johnson was a key reliever for the Tigers, contributing to ETBU's first-ever American Southwest Conference Tournament championship and a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III National Tournament. He made 17 appearances, posting a 2.76 ERA with one save and 20 strikeouts across 16.1 innings.

Before his time at ETBU, Johnson played three seasons at Oklahoma Christian University, making 23 appearances and recording 27 strikeouts over 21.1 innings.

A native of Aubrey, Texas, Johnson earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma Christian in 2021 and an MBA from ETBU in 2023. He is the son of Craig and Delinda Johnson and has one sibling, Cassie.
