Eagles and Cavaliers Battle to a Split in Region XIV Series

April 18, 2025 — Bossier City, LA

In a thrilling doubleheader on Friday, Northeast Texas Community College and Bossier Parish Community College each walked away with a win, as the two teams split their Region XIV series at BPCC's home field.

Game 1: Eagles Prevail Late, 4–2

Northeast Texas Community College came through in the clutch during Game 1, rallying for two runs in the top of the ninth to secure a 4–2 victory over Bossier Parish.

After a scoreless stretch that lasted from the fourth to the sixth inning, the game was tied 2–2 as the teams headed into the final frame. Jake Farris kicked off the rally with a leadoff single, and Braden Duff followed with another base hit. Johnathon Kent then provided the game-winning hit—a two-RBI single that brought both Farris and Duff home to give the Eagles a 4–2 advantage.

Farris, who finished the game 3-for-4 with a double and a stolen base, was the offensive spark for NTCC. Ayden Terry also chipped in with a hit and an RBI, while Luke Regas opened the scoring in the first with an RBI triple. Terry followed with a groundout that scored Regas, giving NTCC a 2–0 lead.

On the mound, Ayden Terry started and worked 5.1 innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out three. JJ Rickert entered in relief and shut down the Cavaliers for the final 3.2 innings, earning the win with two scoreless frames.

For Bossier Parish (27–15, 15–11), Dylan Biddick went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Jacob Gillis added an RBI single in the fourth. However, the Cavaliers couldn't capitalize on their scoring opportunities late in the game.

Game 2: Cavaliers Rally for 3–2 Win

Game 2 was a tense, back-and-forth affair, but it was Bossier Parish that came out on top with a 3–2 win, evening the series at 1–1.

The Cavaliers struck first in the opening inning, with Hayden Stringfellow's sacrifice fly driving in Tyrus Hall to give BPCC a 1–0 lead. However, Northeast Texas fought back in the fifth inning. BJ Lumkins drove in Farris with an RBI single to tie the game, and then Kent followed with a clutch RBI triple, giving NTCC a 2–1 advantage.

But the Cavaliers were not done yet. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game on the line, Parker Gwyn hit a two-RBI double, scoring Hall and Mittelsteadt to put Bossier Parish ahead 3–2. That would be all they needed, as Blanchard sealed the win by shutting down the Eagles in the final frame.

Blanchard was solid on the mound for BPCC, pitching a complete game, allowing two runs on seven hits, and striking out four. For NTCC (23–22, 12–12), Kent continued his strong play with a 3-for-3 performance, including the triple and an RBI. Farris also added a hit and a run scored.

NTCC starter Kaleb Kuhn pitched well for 4 innings, allowing just one run, but reliever Clark Scallon took the loss after the Cavaliers' late rally.
