Northeast Texas Community College Takes Series Against Angelina College in Thrilling Three-Game Battle

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles took down Angelina College in a competitive three-game series over the weekend, April 22–26, 2025. After losing the first game, the Eagles bounced back in the second and third contests to claim the series win, with a final score of 2-1 in the series. Here's a look at how the games played out:


Game 1 (April 22, 2025): Angelina College 4, Northeast Texas Community College 2

In the series opener, Northeast Texas Community College fell short, losing to Angelina College 4-2 in a tightly contested game. Despite collecting six hits, the Eagles couldn't capitalize on their opportunities, stranding five runners on base.

Angelina College jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Ashton Wagner reached on an error, allowing Jacob Tanguma to score. The Eagles tied it up in the third as Boston Seahorn crossed the plate on a wild pitch. The Eagles rebounded in Game 2 with a dominant 8-2 victory, evening the series at 1-1. Northeast Texas came out swinging, scoring twice in the first inning. Braden Duff's sac fly brought in the first run, and Luke Nohinek followed up with a single that scored Seahorn.

Northeast Texas added to its lead in the third inning with a pair of runs off an RBI single from Nohinek and a run from Duff on a sac fly. In the sixth, Luke Regas tripled in a two-run score, further extending the lead to 7-2. The Eagles closed out the game with an RBI single from Duff, finishing the game with 11 hits and a strong showing across the lineup.

On the mound, Ayden Terry earned his fourth win of the season with a stellar 5-inning performance, allowing just one earned run on four hits while striking out four.

However, Northeast Texas answered back in the bottom of the seventh with a four-run rally. Braden Duff's sac fly scored Seahorn, and Terry singled to drive in Nohinek. Samaripa and Kent each added RBIs to put the Eagles ahead 6-1.

The Roadrunners made a last-ditch effort in the ninth with a solo home run by Landon Bailey and an RBI single from Hampshire, but it wasn't enough to mount a full comeback.

Kaleb Kuhn was excellent on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings, allowing just one run on one hit with 5 strikeouts. Clark Scallon and Aiden Leonard came in to close out the game.
