NTCC Eagle Softball Falls to Paris Junior College, 14-3
The NTCC Eagle Softball team was unable to keep pace with Paris Junior College, falling 14-3 on Wednesday.
Paris Junior College took an early lead in the top of the first inning, capitalizing on an NTCC error to score one run, followed by a two-run single from Christi McGuire. They extended their lead in the second inning with a series of productive at-bats, including an RBI single from Gabriela Sosa and fielders choice fielders groundouts by Jessica Battiste and McGuire, each driving in a run.
The momentum continued in the third inning, as Hadison Fults grounded out to score a run, McGuire delivered an RBI single to left field, and Kaitlyn Worsham followed with a run-scoring infield single.
On the mound for NTCC, Kiersten Fincannon started the game, allowing seven hits and eight runs (seven earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking six. Casey Jones provided three innings of relief, giving up seven hits and six runs while issuing three walks.
Battiste led Paris Junior College in the circle, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three and walking one.
Offensively for NTCC, Preslielyn Barraza and Peyton Holland led the lineup with two hits each. Hope Grant contributed two RBIs, finishing 1-for-3 at the plate.
Paris Junior College showcased an impressive offensive performance, collecting 14 hits. Worsham and Sofia Hollingsworth recorded three hits apiece, while McGuire led the team with four RBIs, going 2-for-4. Laci Berecochea and Battiste also had multi-hit games, with Berecochea drawing a team-high two walks.
Defensively, Paris Junior College played a flawless game, committing no errors. Sosa led the team with seven defensive plays.

Paris Junior College Defeats NTCC Eagle Softball 11-3 with Big Fifth Inning
Paris Junior College secured an 11-3 victory over NTCC Eagle Softball on Wednesday, propelled by an eight-run surge in the fifth inning.
NTCC struck first in the opening inning when Kyndal Yaross delivered an RBI single. Paris Junior College responded in the top of the second, tying the game at 1-1 on a single down the right-field line by Christi McGuire.
Paris Junior College took the lead in the third inning, going up 3-1 after Hadison Fults doubled to left field and Jessica Battiste singled to center, each driving in a run. However, NTCC answered in the bottom half of the inning, evening the score at 3-3 thanks to a single by Yaross and a double by Sawyer Strange.
The momentum shifted decisively in the top of the fifth, as Paris Junior College exploded for eight runs on six hits. The inning was highlighted by a three-run home run to right field by Gabriela Sosa, putting the game out of reach.
Conlee Zachry started in the circle for NTCC, allowing nine hits and seven runs over four innings while striking out two and walking four. Reyleigh Shockley led the way for Paris Junior College, pitching four innings and giving up three runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking one.
Offensively, NTCC was led by Yaross, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Yaross, Peyton Holland, and Strange each recorded two hits in the game.
Paris Junior College compiled 12 hits in the contest. Sosa, batting in the heart of the lineup, led the team with three RBIs. Fults turned in a perfect performance at the plate, going 3-for-3, while Battiste, McGuire, and Sofia Hollingsworth each contributed multiple hits. Paris Junior College also demonstrated discipline at the plate, drawing five walks, and remained solid defensively, committing no errors. Sosa led the team with five defensive chances.
NTCC Eagle Softball will look to bounce back in their upcoming matchup against the Apaches on Saturday.
