Peyton Holland Powers NTCC Eagle Softball to Victory Over Kilgore College Rangers

Peyton Holland delivered an impressive performance, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs as NTCC Eagle Softball secured a 9-1 victory over Kilgore College Rangers on Saturday. Holland homered in both the third and fourth innings.

Kilgore College Rangers took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when Katrina Morphis drove in a run on a groundout. However, NTCC quickly responded in the top of the second, with Mya Bradshaw launching a solo home run to left field to even the score at 1-1.

NTCC broke the tie in the third inning when Holland hit a solo home run to left field, followed by a groundout from Hope Grant that extended the lead to 3-The offensive momentum continued into the fourth inning, where NTCC added four more runs on six hits. Kiersten Fincannon hit a solo home run to center field, Holland followed with a two-run homer, and Kyndal Yaross contributed an RBI single.

Fincannon took the mound for NTCC, allowing just two hits and one run over five innings while striking out two and walking two. Kilgore College Rangers starting pitcher, Elisa Castillo, gave up nine hits and six runs (five earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one without issuing a walk.

NTCC recorded 14 hits in the game, with Yaross, Preslielyn Barraza, and Megan Allen each collecting multiple hits. Defensively, NTCC played flawlessly, committing no errors, with Holland leading the team in fielding chances with five.

For Kilgore College Rangers, Jordan Andrade and Mary Newville contributed offensively, each recording a hit while batting consecutively in the lineup. Morphis led the team with one RBI.

NTCC well-rounded performance, highlighted by power at the plate and solid defense, secured a dominant victory in this matchup.

Kilgore College Rangers Unable To Overcome NTCC Eagle Softball's Late-Game Surge

NTCC Eagle Softball secured a 7-5 victory over Kilgore College Rangers on Saturday, breaking a late-game tie in the seventh inning. With the score knotted at five, Emma Peeples delivered a clutch single to drive in two runs, ultimately sealing the win for NTCC.

NTCC took an early lead in the top of the first, capitalizing on an error to get on the board. In the third inning, Mya Bradshaw extended the lead with a two-run home run to right field. However, Kilgore College Rangers battled back, tying the game in the bottom of the sixth after Haleigh Lamb scored on a sacrifice fly and Dekarra Anderson added an RBI single.

Casey Jones started in the circle for NTCC, allowing five hits and two runs over three innings while striking out two and walking two. Hope Grant provided two strong innings of relief, holding Kilgore scoreless while allowing just two hits, striking out one, and issuing no walks. Abigail Curphey pitched a complete game for Kilgore College Rangers, surrendering 10 hits and seven runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.

Preslielyn Barraza led NTCC offense with two hits in four at-bats, while Peeples and Bradshaw each drove in two runs. Peyton Holland showcased her speed on the basepaths, stealing two of NTCCthree total bases. Defensively, NTCC turned a key double play in the game.

Kilgore College Rangers collected 12 hits in the contest, with Anderson leading the way from the seventh spot in the lineup, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Anderson and Mary Newville each recorded three hits, while Jordan Andrade contributed two hits in five at-bats.

With strong offensive execution and solid relief pitching, NTCC Eagle Softball secured a hard-fought win in this competitive matchup.
