Mt. Pleasant, Texas - The NTCC Women's soccer team began their conference campaign with a lopsided 17-0 loss on Friday day to nationally ranked Angelina College.

Goalkeeper Taher Evers was on her toes all night facing 30 shots on goal and recording 10 saves.

Brittnee Lara and Adriana Orona paced the Eagles with one shot on goal each.

FROM COACH E:

• "It wasn't our night as the score line indicates. We got outplayed and outcoached."
• "They beat us all over the field and took us out of our game. That's a credit to them."
• "To the credit of our group, we came out and battled hard with energy and enthusiasm before the low numbers, extreme heat, and our strong opposition were too much to overcome."
• "We must have a short memory as every game will present a challenge to us this season."
• "We will rest, and recover, and get our group ready go for Tuesday."

NTCC drops to 0-1 (0-1 Region 14).

Angelina moves to 1-0 (1-0 Region 14). 

NTCC returns to action on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Jacksonville College.
